Wassily Chair - White

$1,000.00

Experimenting at the Bauhaus in the 1920s led Marcel Breuer to reduce the heavy, overstuffed club chair to its streamlined essence. Inspired by the frame of his beloved bicycle, Breuer combined tubular steel with a seat, back, and arms made from looped straps to create the Model B3, which he described as “my most extreme work...the least artistic, the most logical, the least ‘cozy’ and the most mechanical.” The influential chair later became known as the ‘Wassily’ after on one of its early fans: artist Wassily Kandinsky. This vintage example, manufactured by Knoll, dates from the early 1980s.
